Celebrating 10 Years

The Susan Swartz Studios team at Sundance 2026 (L-R): Robin Rankin, Susan Swartz, Madeline Watterson, Kristi Hoffman

We are thrilled to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Susan Swartz Studios with the completion of an exciting exhibition.

Natural Order brought Susan Swartz’s most recent work together with the signature photographs of renowned environmental artists Edward Burtynsky and Sebastião Salgado. Swartz first collaborated with Burtynsky and Salgado in 2022 at the Sotheby’s Impact Gala, and we were honored to show Swartz’s work alongside these extraordinary artists again. Natural Order celebrated nature’s vitality and magnificence while drawing urgent attention to the environmental crisis facing our Great Salt Lake.

The survival of the Great Salt Lake is of utmost importance to Swartz because she had the personal experience of falling ill and recovering from heavy metal poisoning. Utah's fate will be similar if the lake is not saved and toxic dust fills the air. We were honored to host a couple of events for The Lake documentary during Sundance, and we are thrilled that it won the 2026 U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Impact for Change.

We have the deepest gratitude for the individuals and groups working to save the Great Salt Lake, and we thank you for visiting Natural Order.

Winter Flowers

On view February - June 2026

Winter Flowers explores the transition between winter and spring, when color begins to return and the natural world slowly reawakens. This exhibition brings together a selection of Susan Swartz’s works that foreground florals and organic forms emerging from stillness, celebrating resilience, renewal, and transformation. Swartz’s works invite viewers to pause with this moment of transition and to notice the delicate signals of change that often go unseen.

A thoughtfully arranged reflection of Swartz’s work throughout her career, Winter Flowers also introduces vibrant recent works from her Living Wall and Woodland Bouquet series. Incorporating organic materials and unique textures, these series build upon Swartz’s exploration of the untamed landscape.

A Decade in Review

culture & community

Since our gallery opening in January 2016, we have been eager to engage with the Park City community, welcoming both locals and tourists alike. Each month for the past ten years, Susan Swartz Studios has collaborated with the Park City Gallery Association for Gallery Stroll, where visitors can experience works from galleries across Main Street. From events with the Utah Symphony to book readings with Terry Tempest Williams, we’ve loved having the opportunity to host inspiring creators and bright minds. Of course, the time we look forward to most each year is the Sundance Film Festival, during which we’ve been privileged to facilitate vital conversations by hosting premieres and panels.

Shifting Shows

One of our greatest pleasures is introducing a fresh exhibition at the gallery each season. Our walls have witnessed the dynamic evolution of Swartz’s creative journey, with each new series of paintings unveiling a fresh chapter of her artistic vision. We have also had the honor to exhibit impactful artwork from artists around the world. In addition to our recent exhibition Natural Order with renowned photographers Sebastião Salgado and Edward Burtynsky, we will never forget the incredible experience of displaying works from Agnes Gund’s collection during Art and Social Justice. We eagerly anticipate bringing in more works from remarkable artists in our future exhibitions.

Supporting Causes

Following Swartz’s path of environmental and social awareness, Susan Swartz Studios has been finding new ways to be involved in causes that desperately need our attention. We’ve had the incredible opportunity to work with the filmmakers of influential documentaries including Sugarcane, Aggie, Give Me the Ball!, and of course The Lake. With the help of Dr. Ben Abbott, leading expert on the Great Salt Lake, and the organization Grow the Flow, we’ve been learning more about this environmental crisis and how we as citizens can make an impact. As a new decade unfolds, Susan Swartz Studios aims to bring more attention to the Great Salt Lake cause and to encourage helpful change.

As we begin a new chapter, we look forward to embracing new opportunities for connection, supporting environmental initiatives, and continuing to make a meaningful impact through artwork.
