Jennifer Baichwal, director of Anthropocene: The Human Epoch
On Saturday January 6th, 2019, Susan Swartz Studios hosted the premiere party for Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, celebrating the film’s debut at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Both stunning and cautionary, the documentary follows the a crew of scientists and their expeditions all over the world as they witness the devastating human impact to our planet.
Anthropocene: The Human Epoch, the third installment of a series of environmental films, was directed by award-winning filmmakers Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier aside renowned environmentalist and photographer Edward Burtynsky. Burtynsky has dedicated his photographic practice to documenting the condition of landscapes ravaged by industrialization. In January 2026, Susan Swartz Studios collaborated with the photographer again to exhibit Natural Order, featuring the work of Burtynsky, Sebastião Salgado, and Susan Swartz.
