Transient Nature

Hidden Forest, Nature’s Bouquet 81 & 82, Rhapsody Immersed 13, Petals & Pollen 40, Rhapsody Understudy 8

January 16-April 30, 2025

A celebration of nature’s fluctuations, Transient Nature featured a collection of paintings that had recently returned from Susan Swartz's two-person exhibition Impermanence, displayed at the Palazzo Bembo during the 2024 Venice Biennale. In Impermanence, Swartz’s abstract floral paintings were shown alongside acclaimed artist Laddie John Dill, a sculptor and light artist whose immersive installations mimic the natural effects of Earth’s landscapes.

Transient Nature at Susan Swartz Studios called upon the spirit of impressionism, inviting gratitude and inspection into the present moment. Sunflowers 17 and Nature’s Bouquet 83 offered a warm burst of optimism, contrasting with the cold thrill of the Frozen Water series, and together celebrating the delicate and fleeting beauty of nature across changing seasons.

“In Transient Nature, I want to bring hopefulness to the forefront of the conversation. I don’t paint the world the way it is, I seek to capture its essence and the way I hope its beauty may be revered and preserved.” — Susan Swartz
