During Jason McCoy Gallery's solo exhibition of Susan Swartz at Ten Nineteen Gallery in New Orleans April 27 - May 20th 2023, Susan Swartz Studios collaborated with Jason McCoy Gallery to engage in local community support and outreach.
Swartz was invited to guest lecture at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), the renowned public, pre-professional arts conservatory for high school students in Louisiana where notable past students include Harry Connick Jr. and Jon Baptiste. The artist presented to the Level 3 class and toured the work of the senior art exhibition, meeting with each student to discuss their installation.
In addition, the NOCCA sculpture class taught by local artist and NOCCA alumnus Marcus Brown, created centerpieces inspired by the works in Swartz’s exhibition for a private dinner hosted by Jason McCoy Gallery. The dinner took place at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden after the opening reception at Ten Nineteen gallery and welcomed the gallery’s New York and New Orleans based collectors.
Jason McCoy Gallery donated ten percent of all sales from the Swartz exhibition to support the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA.
