With the 2020 Sundance Film Festival serving as the backdrop, Susan Swartz Studios presented the three-part exhibition Art & Social Justice, commemorating the debut of the documentary Aggie which profiles Agnes Gund’s visionary leadership and activism in the arts.

Founded by Gund, the Art for Justice fund fights to reform the U.S. criminal justice system and end mass incarceration by bringing together artists, advocates, and donors. The Art for Justice collection at Susan Swartz Studios spotlighted pieces from artists Russell Craig, Jesse Krimes, and Dwayne Betts who draw from their own experience of incarceration to illustrate injustice and needed change. Also featured were Mark Bradford and Titus Kaphar whose voices bring attention to the experience of individuals and communities affected by racism and prejudice. Offering bold critiques and poignant narratives, these artists invite viewers to adopt a compassionate lens and reconsider common misconceptions.
